The fibrous tissues that provide the facility for movement in animal bodies. Its origin is “musculus”, the Latin diminutive of “mus”, which means “a little mouse”. Apparently the Romans, when dissecting, thought certain muscles resembled the shape of a mouse. Sounds unlikely.
